After another disappointing season, the Atlanta Falcons headed into the NFL offseason determined to make some moves in order to right the ship and get this team back to being a force to be reckoned with like it was throughout most of the Matt Ryan era.
It didn’t take long for the Falcons to start making these offseason moves as the team fired head coach Arthur Smith and brought in Raheem Morris, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams, to be the new leader on the sideline.
After hiring a new head coach, the Falcons signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in NFL free agency, which is a substantial upgrade compared to Desmond Ridder, who couldn’t cut it as the starter in Atlanta.
Interestingly enough, after signing Cousins to a massive deal with $100 million guaranteed, the Falcons drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was a head-scratching move.
Despite the odd move, the quarterback position is secure in Atlanta moving forward, and the latest news makes the upcoming season that much more promising, with the Falcons having the easiest schedule, according to Sunday Night Football on NBC.

With the Falcons being aggressive in their attempt to right the ship in Atlanta, it’ll be interesting to see if the moves they made pay off in 2024, as all eyes will be on Cousins and Morris as they try to implement a culture of winning next season.
The Falcons will get their 2024 campaign underway at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 on September 8.
