Years after retiring, Paul Pierce is still a significant part of the NBA and has been celebrated for his opinions and knowledge of the league.

Pierce is beloved by many and they were all sending him well wishes recently when he suffered a very nasty finger injury, according to ClutchPoints.

The injury was so brutal that Pierce required surgery.

Following the surgery, Pierce hopped on Twitter to send some love to his fans.

“I’m Good surgery went well looks worse then felt I appreciate the concern and love and to my haters I love yall too,” Pierce said.

The details of the injury aren’t known but images of Pierce’s finger show very gruesome damage that definitely needed attention as soon as possible.

Pierce hasn’t commented on the background of his injury or what caused it but it was obviously pretty bad.

It’s not clear if Pierce will have to miss some time doing media appearances because of his finger problems.

He has been quite busy since retiring, appearing on a number of networks, including ESPN, NBA TV, and Fox Sports.

Of course, long before he was sharing his thoughts on the league, Pierce was a major part of it.

He spent years with the Boston Celtics, winning one championship with them, before moving to the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.

He earned ten All-Star appearances, Finals MVP, a championship ring, and a spot in the Hall of Fame.

As he mentioned in his tweet, Pierce still has his fair share of haters, despite what he did during his years in the league.

But even his haters are wishing him well and hoping his finger heals quickly.
