An AFC Championship rematch will kick off the 2024 NFL season
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5, the NFL announced Monday. It is a tradition for the reigning Super Bowl champion to host the regular season opener on a Thursday night.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs prevailed over Lamar Jackson and the Ravens 17-10 to move on to the Super Bowl this past season.
The NFL will announce the full regular season schedule on Wednesday.
The league already announced that the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will meet on Friday, Sept. 6 in São Paulo, Brazil. It’s the first time the NFL will play a regular season game in South America and the first game to take place on a Friday of the NFL’s opening week since 1970.
