We had never had as many talented players in the NBA as we do today.
While that doesn’t necessarily mean the players are better now, it means that there are more talented players than there used to be.
Perhaps talented isn’t the right word, but it’s a fact that the numbers have gone up.
From that perspective, it’s easy to have multiple snubs every season, whether it’s for the All-Star, All-NBA teams, or the MVP award.
That’s why someone will always complain about who wins the most significant award.
That includes Kevin Garnett, who recently stated that he wasn’t satisfied with Nikola Jokic winning.
Per Garnett, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should’ve won the award this season (via ClutchPoints).
“It’s a regular season award, and usually… The best player on your team usually represents the best team… I thought Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] should have had [the MVP],” Garnett said.

Talking on his show, the legendary big man claimed that Shai was the best player on the best team in the regular season, and the MVP usually goes to that player.
Of course, it’s impossible to take anything away from Jokic, who’s perhaps the best player in the league right now.
But Shai had some impressive numbers as well, and he led the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history.
He plays on both ends of the floor, and he’s blossomed as one of the best two-way stars in the league.
Truth be told, he had more than enough merit to be this season’s MVP, but it’s not like Jokic wasn’t deserving of it, either.
At the end of the day, it’s impossible to please everybody, and that should only motivate Shai to get even better in the future.
