Not so long ago, the New York Knicks were under heavy fire for giving Jalen Brunson such a big contract.
The fans and analysts talked about nepotism and his relationship with Leon Rose, and even the Dallas Mavericks thought they were vastly overpaying for his services.
Fast forward to today, and the Knicks are two wins away from the Eastern Conference Finals, all while Brunson has established himself as one of the best point guards in franchise history.
Brunson has taken a huge leap this season, and especially in the playoffs.
According to ESPN Bet, he’s joined the legendary Michael Jordan as the only two players in NBA history to score 265+ points and hand out 65+ assists in the first 8 games of a playoff run.

You know you’re doing a great job any time you join Jordan on any list.
The Knicks are 6-2 in the playoffs thus far, with both losses coming at the hands of Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers.
They’re up 2-0 on the Indiana Pacers, and Brunson’s impact became even more evident when he wasn’t on the floor in Game 2.
The Pacers got in a big run and were up by double-digits when he was forced to get to the locker room, and they outscored them by 18 points in the third quarter as soon as he came back.
Despite not being a top-3 MVP finalist, Brunson might as well be the most valuable player in the entire league right now, and he’s going to continue making history with every postseason contest.
