Being in the NBA for 21 years means you’re going to have your fair share of head coaches.
However, it seems like coaching LeBron James has become a risky decision for those brave enough to take the job, as they don’t usually last long in that position.
After firing Frank Vogel, the Lakers will now have their fourth coach in seven seasons with James, and they’re pretty much running out of suitable or proven candidates at this point.
With that in mind, former NBA champion and NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott made a rather wild suggestion.
In the latest edition of “Undisputed,” the Lakers great claimed that the team should just allow LeBron to be a player-coach.

He argued that James was already making a lot of decisions anyway, and he didn’t seem to trust anybody but himself, so why not get the elephant out of the room and just give him the keys to the car?
However, he did acknowledge that he didn’t know whether James would want to be in that position, as he wouldn’t have a scapegoat to take the blame, which is something he’s always had.
At the end of the day, it has to come to a point in which the star player also gets some of the blame; it can’t always be the coach.
As for making James a player-coach, there’s a long precedent of teams making that decision, but it hasn’t happened since Dave Cowens coached the Boston Celtics to a 27-41 record back in 1979.
