Hello and welcome to the sixth round of the Formula 1 2024 season as we head west to Miami Gardens, Florida. To host the Miami Grand Prix. And to add the cherry on top, Miami is the second round of the Formula 1 Sprint Weekend at the Miami International Autodrome.

Overview of the Miami International Autodrome

Aside from being built so that Formula 1 fans worldwide can enjoy the sport in a more intimate setting. The Miami International Autodrome is also located near the Hard Rock Stadium. Home of the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. During the design phase, the main focus of the track is creating multiple overtaking opportunities and high-speed action. This was to reflect the vibrant spirit of Miami to provide thrilling races for American and global spectators.

In the 2022 Formula 1 season, the circuit was introduced and the same year, Formula 1 announced that the circuit would remain on the Formula 1 calendar on a 10-year contract.

58 laps, anti-clockwise, result in 308 kilometres of non-stop action around American-made tarmac. Coupled with twisty and technical corners, the Miami Autodrome Circuit offers three DRS Zones with 19 corners creating a balanced circuit. So, for teams and drivers that favour speed or cornering, they’ll need to fine-tune their car setups for the perfect blend between speed and precision around the Miami circuit.

With its location within a major city, the Miami International Autodrome is one of the few Formula 1 circuits that are embedded within a major city. This circuit mixes urban architecture with the natural beauty of South Florida. Which includes views of the stadium and the surrounding scenery.

In addition to the existing roads, the surface of the track combines newly laid tarmac with existing roads which creates variations in grip levels. Adding a layer of complexity to the strategy in the race.

Miami is known for its warm climate and potential for sudden rain showers, which impact tyre strategy and race dynamics. Making it one of the most unpredictable venues in the world.
