The New York Jets have made plenty of moves this offseason to either protect Aaron Rodgers or cover their behinds in case Rodgers were to get hurt again.

One of the quieter moves that they made was the signing of veteran backup Tyrod Taylor to a multi-year deal.

ESPN analyst and former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III chatted with Jets fan and insider Paul Andrew Esden Jr. about his thoughts on what Taylor will mean to the quarterback room in 2024.

“He (Taylor) has more off-schedule, play-making ability than Aaron Rodgers does…He’s not going to lose you games…Tyrod is one of the better backups in the NFL,” Griffin said Thursday morning.

The addition of Taylor was a fantastic move by Jets GM Joe Douglas.

The former Pro Bowl quarterback is about to enter his 14th career season and will provide Aaron Rodgers with a serviceable backup.

Fans may remember Taylor being the starter in Buffalo for the Bills in between 2015 and 2017.

This is a guy who has been around the block while playing for now seven different teams.

Let’s just say he will be able to bring more to the table than backups Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle did a season ago.

Jets fans should definitely feel more comfortable knowing they have a very capable 34-year-old backup behind Rodgers.
