The New York Giants were one of the most intriguing teams leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft.
There was a lot of talk about them potentially going after a quarterback, with reports about Daniel Jones’ spot being in serious peril.
They wound up getting him a prime weapon instead, using their No. 6 selection to land LSU star Malik Nabers.
With that in mind, when he made an appearance to support Darius Slayton at his charity gala, the media asked Jones about all the rumors of his job security, and his answer was quite politically correct, talking about controlling what he could control (via Dan Duggan).
Daniel Jones showed up to support his favorite target, Darius Slayton, at the Gridiron Gala.
As for the Giants’ attempted draft night trade for a QB, Jones gave a typically diplomatic answer: “I’m focused on what I can control and that is preparing to play good football. So,… pic.twitter.com/07WHYuDPSg

Jones definitely heard all the noise.
There were already several doubts about him and whether he was the right guy for the job before he had a career-best season in Brian Daboll’s first campaign there.
He showed signs of promise and even got a big contract, but he regressed significantly last season, not to mention the perennial injury concerns that come with him.
Even so, it made way more sense for the Giants to hold onto him for a little longer.
They would still need a prime skill player to throw the ball to if they had taken a quarterback, and the price of trading up in the first round was just too high.
Jones now knows that his job is on the line.
Hopefully, that’ll motivate him to be at his best in 2024; otherwise, the Giants won’t pass on his replacement again in the upcoming offseason.
