With about 48 hours to go before the start of the star-studded 2024 NFL Draft, the consensus is that University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams will be the first player taken.

Teams across the league are making their final preparations, but so are players who are going to be available in the draft.

Per Tom Pelissero, Williams recently participated in a workout with Rome Odunze, one of the top wide receiver prospects, as well as wideouts Keenan Allen and DJ Moore of the Chicago Bears.

The Bears have the No. 1 pick, and the expectation is that they will take Williams.

They have been in the wilderness for most of the last 30 years, and even though they won the Super Bowl championship with that legendary 1985 squad, they haven’t had a truly great quarterback since Sid Luckman in the 1940s.

However, Chicago is in position to become a real NFL power in a short amount of time.

They signed Allen, a veteran six-time Pro Bowler, this offseason in free agency, and they have a defense that is young and considered up-and-coming.

In addition, they will have the No. 9 pick on Thursday, which they could very well use on yet another stud wideout such as Odunze.

If the draft goes according to plan for the Bears, they could very well be the most improved team in the NFL this coming season, even though several other NFC teams have also improved.

It could result in a battle royale for the NFC North title, which was won easily by the Detroit Lions in 2023.
