Eater Nominated for 2024 Daytime Emmy

The 2024 Daytime Emmys nominations were announced on Friday, and Eater was nominated in the category of Short Form Program for “How Una Pizza Napoletana Became the No. 1 Ranked Pizza in the World,” part of the Handmade series. This is the second year in a row Eater has had an episode of Handmade nominated for a Daytime Emmy.

The Handmade series spotlights individuals who bring handcrafted attention to detail and dedication to the creation of a certain dish, food, or other essential restaurant product. In this year’s nominated episode, we get to know Anthony Mangieri, the chef and owner of beloved pizza hotspot Una Pizza Napoletana. In 2022, Una Pizza Napoletana was ranked the number one pizza in the world. Mangieri makes the dough for his restaurant every single day which is why quality and precision shine through in his product. Because this high-hydration dough is a temperamental one, Mangieri is the only person who makes it every day. The Eater team spent a day with Mangieri while his restaurant was closed to see his whole process from start to finish. Our audience was obsessed with his level of mastery while noting his humbleness. With over 5.5M views, 3K comments, and 85K likes, the episode resonated with both digital and food audiences.

This is Eater’s fifth Daytime Emmy nomination. Eater has previously won five NY Emmys. The Daytime Emmy Awards will air live June 7 on CBS and Paramount+.
