Voluntary offseason workouts are underway in the NFL with some players around the league making a statement about their contract status, with the desire to sign new lucrative long-term deals ahead of training camp.
A few of those notable players are superstar wide receivers like Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb, who both haven’t shown up to workouts and are seeking contract extensions.
Along with some of the best wide receivers in the game wanting new deals before next season, New York Giants star wide receiver Darius Slayton is also looking for a new deal.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Slayton is in the final year of his deal with the Giants and wants to ink a contract extension with the team.
Giants WR Darius Slayton, in the final year of his current deal, has not reported to voluntary offseason workouts this week as he seeks a contract extension, sources told ESPN.

Although Slayton is nowhere near the caliber of player compared to Jefferson and Lamb, he has been fairly consistent for the Giants during his five-season tenure in New York.
Last season, Slayton caught 50 passes for a career-high 770 receiving yards and four touchdowns, starting 13 of 17 games during the 2023 campaign.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Giants do get Slayton signed to a contract extension or have other plans moving forward, especially with the amount of talent at the wide receiver position coming into the league through the 2024 NFL Draft.
