For years, the Dallas Cowboys have had a long-withstanding policy of making contract extensions difficult.

Jerry Jones always likes to play the waiting game, and that hasn’t worked out for him even once in his tenure as the sole decision-maker for the organization.

The Cowboys always seem to end up overpaying, having disgruntled players holding out, and then just having to scrape their way around the salary cap to keep their players.

Other times, they simply end up leaving.

Notably, that could be the case again soon, this time with CeeDee Lamb.

That’s why former NFL player Ross Tucker called them out on his podcast, urging them to be proactive like the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles instead of reactive.

He explained that with the salary cap going up every year, the Cowboys could simply get their players paid and build for years to come, as opposed to always going through the same thing and then struggling to fit their deals in the salary cap.

Jerry Jones clearly knows a lot about business and making money; that’s just a fact.

That’s why it’s often mind-boggling to see that he still hasn’t figured out how to maximize his cap space and keep his players happy, and that’s despite watching all teams in the league work their way around it.

Also, as much as there’s a lot of pride in playing for the Cowboys, it seems like no player is willing to take one for the team and help them out in negotiations, and that all may have to do with the guy signing their checks.
