The Denver Broncos are in the midst of a transitional phase on offense, as head coach Sean Payton is pushing to rebuild this offense in his image and with his choice at quarterback.
In order to elevate this offense, the Broncos will need to lean heavily on wide receiver Courtland Sutton, especially after trading Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns.
That situation suddenly doesn’t feel so stable, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Sutton did not report for voluntary workouts on Monday as he is seeking a new contract.
#Broncos WR Courtland Sutton did not report Monday for voluntary workouts as he seeks a new contract, per source.
Sutton is going on his 10th starting QB in seven seasons and has only $2 million guaranteed left on his deal. He had 10 TDs in 2023 while ranking 56th in targets. pic.twitter.com/93rA35XdM4

To the surprise of no one, fans aren’t handling this very well.
Can’t blame Sutton for wanting stability and a better deal. 10 QBs in 7 years? That’s a nightmare for any receiver!

Broncos fans are going to hate me for saying this, but as much as I love Court, he shouldn’t be paid more than $15 million per year.
At this stage of his career, he’s better off as a WR2, and he’s never had 100 catches in a season. He’s also only eclipsed 1000 yards once.

I have a feeling he got wind he’s gonna be traded and if the patriots or cards decide they want to go with a receiver they know is good or a rookie that will probably be good… idk. But maybe he’s worth trading a 4th and him to get a second who knows

Sutton was productive in 2023 and put up 10 touchdowns while ranking 56th in targets in an anemic offense led by Russell Wilson.
Pelissero noted that Sutton has endured 10 different quarterbacks in his six seasons and has just $2 million guaranteed remaining on his deal.
The reaction to this news is interesting, as some fans feel the Broncos need to keep going with this rebuild and trade Sutton just like they did with Jeudy.
Sutton has eclipsed 1,000 yards one time in his career and has 24 total touchdowns in six years.
It’s unclear how much he is looking for with a new contract, but the Broncos still have about $18 million in cap space if they want to allocate some future space to Sutton.
This isn’t a situation worth freaking out about, as Sutton only missed voluntary workouts.
If he misses training camp, then it will be time to start wondering if a trade is imminent.
