‘Travesty’: Fans furious after UConn, Iowa game comes down to a foul call

It was a brutal way for one of the best games of college basketball to end.

The Final Four matchup between UConn and Iowa was going right down to the wire, with the Huskies down one with less than 10 seconds to go.

After inbounding the ball in Iowa’s end, centre Aaliyah Edwards set a screen near the top of the key that ever-so-slightly was deemed illegal, with the Canadian just stretching her elbow out and hitting Iowa guard Gabbie Marshall as she tried to navigate it.

In one of the biggest possible spots, during one of the most gripping games imaginable, a duel was decided with the blow of a referee’s whistle.

Needless to say, fans were not pleased.

From basketball to hockey and everything in between, here are some of the reactions from across the sports world to perhaps one of the most controversial foul calls of all time.
