The 2023-24 NBA season will go down as a lost one for the Memphis Grizzlies, who are toiling at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

The Grizzlies have been hit hard with injuries, particularly to Ja Morant, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery.

It was a tough year for Morant, who had to serve a 25-game suspension at the beginning of the year and was forced to sit out again after getting hurt.

However, Morant is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 NBA campaign when Memphis is expected to rejoin the elite ranks of the league.

Until then, it seems like Morant is beginning to change how he conducts himself and who he surrounds himself with as he recently made the decision to fire his long-time agent Jim Tanner.

Gilbert Arenas offered up his thoughts on the move and what it might mean for Morant going forward, via “Nightcap.”

“I think he’s cleaning house, I think he’s surrounding himself with smarter people,” Arenas said.

Tanner represented Morant from the time he was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft until a few days ago when the star guard made the decision to part ways with him.

With Tanner no longer in the picture, there are going to be several agencies vying to represent him because of his skill and popularity among the youth.

Who Morant ends up signing with remains an open question, but there’s no doubt that his next representatives will need to be better about keeping him in check.
