The Los Angeles Rams were host to one of the most surprising players of the 2023 season: Puka Nacua.
Nacua seemingly came out of the woodwork for them in his rookie campaign, putting up 105 receptions, 1,486 yards, and scored six touchdowns.
Nacua was not only a fifth-round talent that impressed in his first season, but he also broke the rookie record for receptions and yards.
This was a pleasant surprise for the Rams, seeing they now have a one-two punch in their receiver room.
After his season, Nacua became quite an icon on social media and gained a lot of traction.
He recently appeared on Maxx Crosby’s podcast, discussing his rookie campaign, including a story about Aaron Donald and his work ethic.
Nacua recalled a time when he had been on the field for quite some time and came into the weight room, assuming all of the veterans had left.
However, looking around, he realized one person was remaining: Donald.
“The vets have already had their workout; this guy’s still there,” Nacua said.
Nacua seemed to be impressed with Donald while also being fearful of the long-time NFL veteran.
Donald didn’t appear to be the kindest to him during this time, but Nacua understood that he didn’t want to be bothered during his workout.
You don’t get to be one of the best defenders in league history by slacking off, apparently, and this short story from Nacua illustrates that, even in his final season, Donald was a competitor until the very end.
