Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks is one of the most celebrated and exciting guards in the NBA right now.
But is he also a “foul hunter,” someone who works hard to draw fouls from other players?
NBA insider Brian Windhorst believes that Brunson is guilty of that charge.
According to NBACentral, Windhorst said:
“He doesn’t have the reputation of Harden or Trae Young, but he’s a foul hunter….he uses the dark arts. This is what the referees are cracking down on, the fouls that he gets sometimes are not what they’re going to give him.”

Calling anyone in the league a “foul hunter” is a fairly serious accusation but it’s also one that gets tossed around often.
However, most of the time it is fans who claim someone is attempting to draw extra fouls and it’s not often that a writer like Windhorst makes this sort of comment.
For the season, Brunson is posting 27.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
Since coming to the Knicks at the start of last season, Brunson has proven himself as one of the missing pieces the team needed and they are now the fourth seed in the East.
If Brunson really is guilty of being a foul hunter, he may need to consider changing his ways because the league is paying much more attention to these sorts of actions.
The NBA has recently changed some rules so that players abusing the foul policy would be punished on the court.
Now that he’s been called out by Windhorst, will Brunson receive more attention from the refs?
He is attempting 6.1 free throws this season, which is a career-high for him.
Whether he is hunting for them or not, Brunson is clearly getting a lot of fouls.
