For the past two seasons, the New York Jets have been one of the NFL’s best defensive teams, and in particular, their pass defense has been outstanding.
On Friday, that defense got even stronger with the addition of outside linebacker Haason Reddick via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ari Meirov outlined what led to the Eagles trading Reddick to New York and the wealth of talent the team now has up front defensively.
“The #Jets’ defensive line now includes Quinnen Williams, Haason Reddick, Jermaine Johnson, John Franklin-Meyers, Javon Kinlaw, and 2023 1st-rounder Will McDonald,” he tweeted.

The Jets have not only added Reddick, but earlier this month, they also brought in an additional reinforcement in defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, who had spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
As it was, they finished fourth in passing touchdowns allowed and second in both passing yards and first downs given up last season and had three defenders make the Pro Bowl.
They already boasted defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, linebackers Quincy Williams and Jermaine Johnson II, and cornerback Sauce Gardner.
After losing future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom they had traded for last offseason, to a torn Achilles in Week 1, they were able to remain competitive in October thanks to their defense before the bottom fell out.
On offense, the Jets have added Mike Williams, a very capable wide receiver, as well as left tackle Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowler, and they still have studs in running back Breece Hall and wideout Garrett Wilson.
If Rodgers manages to return and play well, perhaps the Jets will challenge for their first playoff spot since the 2010 season.
