Dak Prescott has been the man for the Dallas Cowboys ever since he was a rookie in 2016, and he has put up impressive numbers year after year since then.

In 2023, he threw for 4,516 yards and an NFL-high 36 touchdowns while completing 69.5 percent of his pass attempts, and for a little while late in the year, he was one of the front-running candidates for the league MVP award.

In some ways, Prescott gets plenty of respect around the league, but Emmanuel Acho said that in other ways, Prescott should feel disrespected, per Fox Sports 1’s “Speak.”

The one knock on Prescott — and it’s a very big one — is that he doesn’t play well in big games, especially come playoff time.

In 2021 and 2022, he underperformed in playoff losses to the San Francisco 49ers, and last season, he threw three interceptions in a 42-10 loss to the Niners in Week 5.

In Week 15 versus the surging Buffalo Bills, he threw for just 134 yards and no touchdowns in a 31-10 loss that practically killed his chances of winning the MVP award.

Then came Dallas’ disastrous wild-card round loss to the Green Bay Packers where Prescott threw two early interceptions, allowing the Packers to build a 27-0 lead just before halftime.

Right now, the focus is on a potential contract extension for Prescott, since he is entering the final year of his current contract.

The Cowboys have had trouble clearing enough salary cap space in order to make an extension happen, which is one reason they have been relatively quiet this offseason.

If they don’t give him an extension before the start of the 2024 season, and he underperforms yet again in the playoffs, things could get very interesting between him and the team next offseason.
