Over the past few months, when talking about quarterbacks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, all the buzz has surrounded USC superstar Caleb Williams and the question of whether he can help turn things around for the struggling Chicago Bears franchise.
As of right now, the consensus is that Williams is a generational talent and a player who should be able to get the Bears back on the right track, making him a no-brainer pick at No. 1 overall for Chicago.
With Williams now expected to go No. 1 to the Bears, the speculation has started to run rampant about the other quarterbacks in the draft, namely the ones that will be taken right after Williams in the top-five selections or so.
Many believe that Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels will be the next quarterbacks off the board at No. 2 and No. 3, but J.J. McCarthy out of the University of Michigan has started to make things interesting, with some rumors brewing that he could go to the Washington Commanders at No. 2.
Former NFL star wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh talked about what he’s seen from McCarthy and had nothing but high praise for the promising young quarterback, via “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
“I like J.J., man,” Houshmandzadeh said. “I really do. … Great arm, not a good arm. He’s accurate. He knows how to win and that’s what matters.”

With McCarthy getting a lot of hype as of late, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him rocket up some mock drafts and make the Commanders and or New England Patriots think twice about which quarterback they want to take at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Only time will tell where McCarthy ends up, but he could be the quarterback who goes much sooner than expected on April 25.
