Los Angeles Lakers centre Anthony Davis was forced to exit the game against the Golden State Warriors after suffering a corneal abrasion, the team said Saturday
The incident occurred near the end of the first quarter as Davis was going up for a lay-up against Warriors centre Trayce Jackson-Davis. As Jackson-Davis’ arm was coming down, it appeared to hit Davis in the eye
Davis would end up heading to the team’s locker room during the break between quarters and would be officially ruled out at the start of the second half, with Jaxson Hayes starting at the five instead.
His night would end having played 11 minutes, scoring eight, grabbing four rebounds and notching a steal and a block.
The veteran big man has been key for the Lakers this season, averaging 24.7 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks. He’s also been healthy by his standards with his 63 games so far this season being the most he’s played since the 2017-18 season. He has only missed four games.
Los Angeles is currently ninth in the West with a 36-31 record, only one game ahead of Golden State.
