The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for what could be a return to greatness in 2024 after making some big moves this week.

They signed star running back Saquon Barkley and linebacker Devin White, and on Friday, they acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett, who will be backing up Jalen Hurts.

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, Philly did look into trading for Chicago Bears signal-caller Justin Fields, but nothing ever materialized on that front, per Word On The Birds.

Many are surprised Fields hasn’t been traded yet, as the Bears are expected to keep the No. 1 pick in April’s draft and use it on a potential franchise quarterback such as Caleb Williams.

In three pro seasons, Fields hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations, and while he can move the chains with his legs, he has proven to be an anemic passer.

There are still some who believe he can be an adequate QB1 in the right situation, but it’s looking more and more like he would be best suited to being a QB2.

Perhaps there simply isn’t a market for Fields — perhaps Chicago was thinking or at least hoping they could nab a second-day draft pick for him, but that seems extremely unlikely at this point.

So far in the NFL, he has completed just 60.3 percent of his pass attempts and thrown for 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions in 40 games.

It looks like the Bears will have to lower their expectations as far as a return on Fields if they want to get anything in return for him rather than keep him as a backup.
