Kevin Durant’s move to the Golden State Warriors in 2016 ultimately earned him two Finals MVPs and two championship rings, but it also cost him a lot, according to Gilbert Arenas.

Arenas and Shannon Sharpe spoke about Durant’s career on the latest episode of “Nightcap” and the former NBA star claimed that Durant “sacrificed” his legacy by moving to the Warriors.

While Durant did earn back-to-back championships, it harmed his image in the media and among many fans.

As for Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and the rest of the Warriors squad, it only enhanced their place in history.

Durant’s move to the Warriors is still one of the most controversial in recent NBA history.

For some, it was the epitome of “ring chasing” and showed his desire to win a championship the fastest way possible.

For others, it was a smart move that put him in the best position for the most success.

There are others who agree with Arenas because they believe that Durant’s legacy was never the same after his tenure at Golden State.

This is something that was still talked about even as he moved on to the Brooklyn Nets and now his current NBA home, the Phoenix Suns.

If Durant is able to win another championship before he retires, perhaps the conversation about his legacy will change.

But this is a talking point that is brought up often and will possibly follow Durant around for the rest of his career.

However, he is the sort of player who doesn’t pay attention to what others say about him and instead keeps his mind focused on winning for himself and his team.

No matter what is said about this legacy, there is no denying that he certainly did win a lot during his time with the Warriors.
