The Minnesota Vikings could be in a tough spot in the foreseeable future.
They’re not good enough to keep up with the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, who made it to the NFC Divisional Round and NFC Championship Game, respectively.
The Chicago Bears could and should also get significantly better with two top-10 picks, an elite defense, and a new quarterback.
They let Kirk Cousins walk away in free agency and replaced him with Sam Darnold, and that’s not exactly encouraging.
That’s why some people believe it’s just a matter of time before they also have no choice but to move on from star WR Justin Jefferson as well.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen any time soon.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic recently reported that Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah aggressively rejected the idea of moving on from Jefferson when he addressed the media at the NFL Scouting Combine, adding that those plans haven’t changed now that Cousins is gone.
The Vikings came close to extending WR Justin Jefferson last offseason. In Indy, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah aggressively rejected the idea of trading the star. Kirk Cousins’ departure hasn’t changed things. The Vikings have no plans to trade Jefferson, sources tell me and @alec_lewis.

The Vikings tried to get Jefferson to sign an extension the offseason, and they’ll continue to work towards reaching an agreement.
Jefferson is one of the best offensive players in the game, and he could get them plenty in return.
He repeatedly talked about his desire to continue playing with Cousins, so he must not be happy about his departure.
For now, however, he’s not going anywhere, and he’d have to force his way out of the Twin Cities if he wants to take his talents somewhere else.
