During his career in the NFL, which spanned from 2002 to 2017, Dwight Freeney was considered to be one of the best players in the league, as he was a nightmare for opposing offenses to deal with.
With Freeney now long since retired, the former Indianapolis Colts superstar has some opinions on the state of defenses in the league today and which players he thinks remind him of himself.
On the “RG3 and The Ones” podcast, Robert Griffin III asked Freeney which players in today’s game remind him of himself, and he didn’t hesitate to name arguably the two best defensive players in the league right now: Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons.
“Myles Garrett and Micah [Parsons],” Freeney said. “It’s a blend of both. Watching how Myles spins and he comes around the corner and he spins inside. Reminds me a lot about how I did it. He’s a monster of a man. He can move you. It ain’t just speed, he works moves.
“From speed and acceleration, it’s Micah. Micah is a special player. He plays the game like how it is supposed to be played. He plays 110% every single play, and I love it.”

Both Garrett and Parsons seem to take their games to another level each year, with both players coming off solid seasons with their franchises, even though both teams fell short as favorites during the NFL playoffs.
Along with already being in an elite class at their positions, Parsons and Garrett are hitting their prime and could be this dominant for many years to come.
