In this era of social media and podcasts, everyone has an opinion about everything, and that has been taken to another level entirely in the world of professional sports, with a lot of talking head shows trying to control the narrative or change it on a daily basis.

One of the biggest talking heads in sports media these days is Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, who is arguably the cream of the crop when it comes to what he does to stir the pot with players, teams, and anything basketball-related.

Although Smith is arguably the best at what he does, it doesn’t mean that he’s well-liked by the masses or that his takes are the best of the best, but rather he’s built a big enough platform that whatever he says gets heard day in and day out.

However, some former and current players aren’t all that fond of Smith and his daily antics trying to stir things up, with former NFL superstar Cam Newton letting his thoughts be known on “The Big Podcast with Shaq” recently.

“If I want to hear about basketball, I want to hear from Shaq… Respectfully, not Stephen A. Smith,” Newton said.

These days, Smith has his fair share of competition, with many former players moving into the media space, voicing their opinions, and getting quite animated in the process.

That said, some of these debates can get heated, with some wondering why Smith, as an analyst, has a better take than a player who has been there and done that.
