As of right now, the Chicago Bears’ attention is directed toward the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and what the storied franchise will do with the No. 1 overall pick.
All signs point to the Bears trading current star quarterback Justin Fields elsewhere, paving the way for the team to bring in USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams as it’s new franchise player.
Unfortunately for Chicago, there’s been no decision made publicly about their intentions, nor have they been able to move Fields in a trade, which could be concerning for the Bears as the draft day draws near.
However, the team still has some time to make up its mind, as Chicago will not officially be on the clock until April 25, meaning their intentions today could be different next month when it is time to make a decision.
In the meantime, the Bears made a move on Thursday to keep one of their best defensive players in Chicago for the next four years, with cornerback Jaylon Johnson coming to terms on a new deal worth $76 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network via the NFL’s Twitter account.

Obviously, the team fully intends to upgrade its roster on the offensive side of the football this year and hopes to take a giant leap in that direction by drafting Williams, but keeping one of the best defensive players over the next four years is a solid move.
In 14 games with the Bears last season, Johnson recorded four interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 10 passes defensed.
