Calgary Flames rookie Martin Pospisil was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a hit from behind on Seattle Kraken defenceman Vince Dunn.
With the Flames pushing late in the third period to try and tie Monday’s game, the pesky Flames youngster ran Dunn into the boards from behind. Dunn immediately headed to the team’s bench holding the back of his head.
Dunn didn’t return to the game. Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol had no update on the defenceman’s status after the game.
Hakstol told reporters after the game that he thought Pospisil’s hit on Dunn was “garbage.”
The play was reviewed by referees, and Pospisil was assessed the game misconduct, ending his night.
It’s not the first time Pospisil has been ejected from a game this season.
Earlier in the year against Boston, Pospisil was ejected from the game for cross-checking Bruins forward Brad Marchand. Pospisil did not receive any supplemental discipline for the play.

Pospisil has been a pleasant surprise for the Flames this year, and the team rewarded him with a two-year contract extension in early February.
In 45 games this season, the 24-year-old forward has recorded six goals and nine assists. He was a fourth-round pick by the Flames in the 2018 NHL Draft.
