The Vancouver Canucks will have Carson Soucy back in the lineup when they visit the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed.
Soucy has been out since blocking a shot with his hand on Jan. 20. It was his third absence due to an injury this season. He has six points in 21 games.
The Canucks added Soucy on a three-year, $9.75-million contract in free agency and his return comes just as the club is mapping out its final moves before Friday’s trade deadline.
The Canucks continue to lead the Pacific Division with 85 points but are in the midst of a slide, going 2-5-1 in their last nine games since mid-February.
“We’re kind of in the dog days right now, so hopefully I can provide just a little spark of positivity, just a new look,” Soucy said at practice Monday. “They’ve been grinding the ups and downs, where I’ve kind of just been working to get back. So, I haven’t experienced all the emotion that these guys have this year. Hopefully, I can bring a fresh look and a little spark of positivity.”
In other Canucks news, the team announced that defenceman Guillaume Brisebois was being waived so he can continue his recovery from a concussion in the AHL.
