Back in the day, Jerry Rice made the NFL record books look like his own personal resume, and he is considered by most to be the greatest wide receiver in the history of football.
His son Brenden had a solid college career at the University of Southern California, and he decided to skip his senior season there and declare for this year’s draft.
Ironically, the younger Rice said at the NFL Scouting Combine that it would be “amazing” to play for the Dallas Cowboys, per Tom Downey.

The elder Rice, of course, played the majority of his career for the San Francisco 49ers, one of the Cowboys’ biggest historical rivals.
The two teams had some memorable battles in the playoffs, particularly when they met three straight times in the NFC Championship Game from 1992 to 1994.
In 2023, the younger Rice scored 11 touchdowns while catching 37 passes for 644 yards as a member of the Trojans.
While there, he got to play with another well-known draft prospect in quarterback Caleb Williams, whom many expect to be the first player chosen in April.
While he’s blazing fast (he reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in just under 4.4 seconds), he doesn’t quite have the outstanding hands his father had, and he is expected to be a late-round pick in this year’s draft.
While Dallas has one of the NFL’s best wide receivers in CeeDee Lamb, they could use another legitimate threat at that position, especially since Brandin Cooks had a disappointing 2023, and perhaps the younger Rice has a chance to help in that regard.
