The NBA seems to be headed toward a transition period, with some of the aging superstars who have been the faces of the league for a decade or more getting closer to retirement while some rising stars are starting to jockey for their space in the spotlight.
With LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant getting a bit older and arguably headed into the last stages of their storied NBA careers, some young players are starting to make a lot of noise while providing some excitement for the future as the league appears to be in good hands.
Some of those players are as young as they come in the NBA, with Victor Wembanyama just turning 20 and Anthony Edwards only 22 years old while currently leading his Minnesota Timberwolves to the top of the Western Conference.
With so many talented young players coming up in the league right now, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins made a list of who he believes are the top-five players under 25 years old, via NBA on ESPN.

Edwards sitting at the top of this list comes as no surprise, as this year has been his coming out party of sorts while proving that he can be the best player on a team that can be a legitimate title contender.
Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies sliding in there at No. 2 also isn’t all that surprising, as he’s proven he can play at a superstar level at 24 years old.
Then Wembanyama comes in at No. 3, as he has already shown his potential to be great in the near future, even though the San Antonio Spurs are a piece or two away from being a threat in the West again.
Tyrese Haliburton has been thrust into superstar status after proving he can be the face of a franchise with the Indiana Pacers.
Finally, Zion Williamson makes the list at No. 5, who still has more to prove, even though he’s incredibly talented.
