The 2023 NFL season is officially in the books and it ended in one of the most thrilling Super Bowls in recent memory as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.
The Chiefs established themselves as a dynasty and Patrick Mahomes strengthened his case for the greatest player of all time.
The league has a way of organically creating storylines, leaving a lot of content for journalists across the country to cover.
NFL fans have been fortunate enough to read and listen to some of the best reporters in the business, though one legend is calling it a career.
Peter King, best known for his weekly columns with NBC Sports, announced that he’s finally walking away.
King is lauded as one of the best NFL journalists ever, but he revealed his biggest regret via CBS Sports Radio.
“I confirmed the ESPN story about the deflated footballs after Deflategate first hit the scene,” King said. “It was a Monday night, and I called two people who I was sure would know exactly what happened. And they both confirmed the ESPN story, and so I wrote it, talked about it, and it turns out I was wrong.”

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were accused of deflating footballs during the 2015 NFL Playoffs, causing a huge uproar.
At the time, King reported that the Patriots had deflated 11 or 12 footballs, but it was later discovered only one football was underinflated by two pounds.
King’s remorse over the story speaks to his journalistic integrity, and no one is throwing dirt on his name for the misreporting.
