The Washington Commanders put together a committee to find their new head coach.
Moving on from Ron Rivera seemed like an easy choice, and the fact that they didn’t even consider Eric Bieniemy to take the reins wasn’t much of a surprise at this point anymore, all things considered.
However, with Bill Belichick becoming a free agent for the first time in more than two decades, the fact that they didn’t even reach out to him was, at least, odd.
Fast forward to today, and lifelong NFL insider Peter King criticized the new ownership for not even trying to get into a room with him to pick his brain and whatnot.
Talking on The Dan Patrick Show, King said that it was very bizarre that Josh Harris didn’t go after one of the biggest names in the coaching scene after spending six billion to get the franchise.
“You’re Josh Harris. You just paid $6 billion for this franchise. Explain to me why you wouldn’t sit in a room with Belichick for a day or for 6 hours, at the very least to simply download his brain,” King said.

Truth be told, the Belichick situation was kind of surprising.
Most people assumed he’d have teams lining up to try and get him, yet the Atlanta Falcons were the only team to show any sort of interest in his services, and it didn’t get that far.
Perhaps teams think Belichick is closer to retirement and don’t want to go through this process so soon again, or perhaps they believe he’s either outdated or lost his magic.
Now, some believe we’ve already seen the last of Bill Belichick in the National Football League, and not many fans expected him to ride into the sunset this way.
