MLB free agency is unlike the process in any other sport.
For some reason, a few of the top free agents stay on the market much longer than they should.
The National League Cy Young winner from last season has yet to find a home.
That is Blake Snell, and he should not still be a free agent.
But, it appears Snell is willing to hold out for the best deal possible.
He is even willing to take a shorter deal if necessary.
According to Jon Heyman via MLB Deadline News, Snell is willing to sign a short-term deal with opt-outs.
That is similar to the deal Cody Bellinger just signed with the Chicago Cubs.

Many teams should be jumping at the opportunity to sign Snell.
He is one of the best pitchers in baseball and players of his caliber are rarely on the open market this long.
Two issues could be scaring teams away from Snell.
The first is a lack of command as he is known to walk a lot of batters.
The second is durability.
Snell has never thrown over 180.2 innings in a single season in his career.
Also, he has only thrown over 129.1 innings twice.
Snell is not the type of pitcher that can consistently put together six or seven-inning starts.
Still, what he can provide to a contending team is quite valuable.
Any team contending for a World Series that needs another starting pitcher should make a hard push for Snell.
