Eric Bieniemy deserves plenty of credit for the Kansas City Chiefs’ dynasty.
While Andy Reid was calling the plays most of the time, he was out there designing the schemes, the plays, the strategy, and developing talent.
Nonetheless, even though the Chiefs clearly had the best and most proficient offense in the game with him on board, it was never enough for him to get a head coaching job in the league.
He went through multiple interviews, but the closest he got was when he became the offensive coordinator and associate head coach for the Washington Commanders.
He didn’t find much success there, and his toughness reportedly rubbed some players the wrong way early in his tenure.
Even so, the fact that he couldn’t strike a head coaching job was mind-boggling.
With that in mind, former NFL QB Robert Griffin III took to Twitter to congratulate him on his new job as associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the UCLA Bruins, adding that it was just ‘unbelievable’ that no NFL team would hire him to be a head coach.
Happy for Eric Bieniemy becoming the Offensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach at @UCLAFootball as reported by @PeteThamel and @AdamSchefter , but how this man can’t get a Head Coaching job in the NFL or in College is UNBELIEVABLE. pic.twitter.com/2t5qravhdg

Truth be told, many coaches have gotten an opportunity with far less impressive résumés, and one has to wonder whether there’s something else going on behind closed doors.
Bieniemy deserves an opportunity at the very least.
Hopefully, somewhere down the line, he’s going to get a chance to prove what he’s made of and prove every single team that could’ve hired him and didn’t was flat-out wrong for the way they dealt with him.
