The Toronto Maple Leafs have loaned defender Marshall Rifai to the Toronto Marlies, Leafs PR announced Saturday.
The news comes almost a week after the 25-year-old made his NHL debut against the St. Louis Blues on Monday, dressing for the then-injured William Lagesson. The Beaconsfield, Que.-native was called up to give the Leafs extra depth on the back end.
The blueliner, who’s on his first NHL contract after playing in the AHL last year, has spent most of this season with the Marlies. He has 11 points and 38 penalty minutes in 34 AHL games.
