The Kansas City Chiefs achieved something in the Super Bowl that few teams were able to do in the 2023 season.
They limited the 49ers offense to just 22 points, one of their lowest point totals of the season.
When it mattered most, the Chiefs neutralized Brock Purdy and his top skill-position players, giving him limited time in the pocket.
His decision-making was certainly tested, and ultimately, the young quarterback was unable to get a win.
However, even though the Chiefs won this game, it doesn’t mean that they disrespected their opponents.
Steve Spagnoulo recently had a conversation with Peter Schrager, talking about how much he likes Purdy.
“I just texted Brock the other day,” Spagnoulo said.
He added, “I just wanted to tell him how much respect I have for him. What a terrific game he played.”
“I’ll be honest with you. I just texted Brock [Purdy] the other day. I tried to track down his number. I just wanted to tell him how much respect I have for him. What a terrific game he played. He’s such a quality guy, strong Christian man, and I respect him.” – Steve Spagnoulo pic.twitter.com/1WetUXYJGP

Purdy is a young quarterback, hopefully with a lot of NFL games left in him.
He has a lot of experience to learn over the next several years, but after seeing Spagnulo’s comments, it is clear that he is well-respected by some of the top defensive minds in the game.
Assuming next year’s roster is similar to their 2023 team, the 49ers should be in a position to make a deep run again in 2024.
Purdy should get more chances to play in marquee games moving forward.
While Spagnoulo doesn’t want Purdy to take down his Chiefs, it is clear that he is rooting for the young QB to succeed in his career.
Generally, when young players like Purdy have solid heads on their shoulders, good things happen to them throughout their time in the NFL.
