The NBA All-Star Game will be held this weekend and it’ll look different than what fans have seen for the last few years.
The league announced that the game is going back to a traditional format, with players from the West and East representing their own conferences.
Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins welcomed the change.
“I’m so glad we went back to the East versus West format and it does matter,” Perkins said.

Perkins said he wants to see players perform with dedication and real goals of playing hard and playing well.
Over the last few years, some NBA fans have complained that players didn’t take the game seriously and that it felt completely inconsequential and unimportant.
The league heard those complaints and they are hoping that fans walk away very happy with this year’s game.
Perkins remembered a time when his former teammate Kevin Durant spoke about how much he wanted to win an All-Star MVP trophy.
Perkins said that he wants players to compete with that on their mind, actually caring about winning MVP and making their respective conferences proud.
To many, the All-Star Game drifted too far away from its principles and what it was supposed to be about.
After some readjusting, things will look different but also very familiar this weekend.
The All-Star Game will be filled with some of the biggest talent in the league, including LeBron James, Durant, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and many others.
With that great lineup and a refreshed format, the All-Star Game will hopefully once again be the annual event that NBA fans get excited about.
