The Cincinnati Bengals are officially ready to part ways with a fan favorite.
According to Ian Rapoport, they’ve released veteran QB AJ McCarron, putting an end to his second stint with the AFC North organization.
The 2014 fifth-round pick had returned to the team to join their practice squad in September.

He was elevated to the active roster during the final month of the season in the wake of Joe Burrow’s injury.
McCarron even took the field last season.
He made a couple of appearances in relief of backup Jake Browning, going 4-for-5 for 19 yards.
The veteran gunslinger made three starts for the organization during the 2015 season and was there through 2017.
Jake Browning did a solid job as Burrow’s backup, and he may have played himself into a contract in free agency.
Burrow had an up-and-down season, dealing with a calf injury that limited his mobility and made him struggle mightily earlier in the season.
He later came back to full strength and was once again one of the best quarterbacks in the league before tearing a ligament in his wrist to put an early end to his campaign.
