Vancouver Canucks prospect Arshdeep Bains earned Most Valuable Player honours Monday night in the AHL’s All-Star Challenge.
Leading all players with five points (two goals and three assists) in the final, Bains also scored the winner with 12.9 seconds left on the clock, pushing the Pacific Division past the Atlantic Division for a 3-2 win. It marked the Pacific Division’s second straight title at the event.
Representing the Abbotsford Canucks, Bains was making his first All-Star appearance in just his second year in the league. He missed the All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday due to travel issues caused by extreme weather in California.
The 23-year-old has 40 points (nine goals and 31 assists) in 40 games with Abbotsford this season. Vancouver signed the undrafted Surrey, B.C. native to a three-year, entry-level deal in March of 2022.
