The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled to play well for the majority of the 2023-24 NBA season, and a huge reason behind it is a lack of effort from the players on the defensive end of the floor.

However, the Lakers have several players who are capable of playing elite defense when required.

Anthony Davis is undoubtedly the best defender on the current roster of the Lakers and he proved it during the team’s recent win over the New York Knicks.

Davis spearheaded the Lakers’ defense in the fourth quarter and helped the team in registering a 113-105 win over the Knicks.

Austin Reaves also found his touch in the fourth quarter.

After the game, veteran NBA analyst Skip Bayless praised the Lakers via his official Twitter handle.

“Another big road win by the Lakers.  Austin Reaves came alive and closed, orchestrating the offense. Everybody played defense, taking Jalen Brunson out of the game.  Lakers dominated the 4th.  I like this team,” Bayless said.

Bayless applauded the Lakers’ defense in the fourth quarter, which helped the team in shutting down Jalen Brunson.

After a hard-fought battle, the Lakers managed to register a 113-105 win behind 20+ points performances from LeBron James and Austin Reaves.

As for Davis, he had a quiet offensive night, as he scored just 12 points in 36 minutes of playing time.

However, Davis impacted the game in other ways as he finished the game with 18 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 1 steal.

The performance undoubtedly solidifies his case to be named the 2024 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
