The Cleveland Browns should be in the market for an upgrade at the wide receiver position.
Recently, there was plenty of speculation regarding Tee Higgins, perhaps the most prominent name in this free agency class.
Higgins started following fellow Clemson alumnus Deshaun Watson and Browns WR Elijah Moore on social media, leading to some rumors about some potential recruiting going on.
With that in mind, the guys from the Lockerverse podcast asked Watson about the situation and whether he was actively recruiting Higgins to join him in Cleveland.
“Of course I want Tee. I want all the top receivers if I can,” Watson said.
Watson downplayed the whole story by stating it was all social media frenzy and speculation.
Then again, he also admitted that he obviously wants the team to sign Higgins and all of the top players who are available out there, but he claims he doesn’t have any say or input in that process; there’s just nothing he can do about that.
It’s hard to think that a team won’t keep their most important player up to date with the free-agent signing process, and one has to think that the Browns will be doing their due diligence not only on Higgins but on all potential offseason targets.
The Cincinnati Bengals could have a tough time holding onto Higgins after signing Joe Burrow to a record-breaking contract extension, especially considering the fact that they will also have to pay star WR Ja’Marr Chase sooner rather than later.
Now, whether he’ll end up jumping ship and signing with a divisional rival and state neighbor remains to be seen.
