During the 2023 NFL regular season, Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott was making a strong case to be named NFL MVP, as he seemed to be turning the corner and finally living up to expectations for longtime team owner Jerry Jones.

Unfortunately, a costly loss to the Buffalo Bills toward the end of the regular season seemed to ruin any chance of Prescott winning his first MVP award, but the team still had high hopes of being successful during the NFL playoffs with one of the best all-around rosters in the league.

Heading into the first-round playoff showdown with the Green Bay Packers, Prescott and company were expected to wipe the floor with Jordan Love’s squad, paving the way to advance to the Divisional Round of the postseason.

However, Dallas fell apart on both sides of the football, with Prescott unable to make enough of an impact to outplay Love and lead his team to victory, with the Cowboys finishing the season in disappointment once again.

One of the hot topics of discussion after this playoff collapse was Prescott’s future in Dallas, with some believing the team should try to trade him rather than sign him to a lengthy and pricey contract extension.

It appears that Cowboys legend Troy Aikman is a supporter of Prescott, as he recently said “I still believe in Dak,” via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

With all the pressure that comes with being the star quarterback of America’s Team, Prescott will continue to get heavily criticized if he can’t figure out how to lead Dallas to success in the postseason.

The real question moving forward is how much more can Jones and the team’s brass take when it comes to failed expectations with Prescott at the helm, as patience must be running thin.
