Patrick Mahomes had never played an away playoff game before facing off against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
This was a narrative coming into this matchup, especially since Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs were considered inferior.
The Chiefs have been one of the best teams in the NFL during the Mahomes era, but many believed they didn’t have the luster this season.
That opinion quickly changed on Sunday night, as Mahomes and the Chiefs took down Josh Allen’s Bills.
Mahomes spoke with Tracy Wolfson about this narrative in a postgame interview.
According to Mahomes via the NFL on CBS, “We were here to prove a point. To show that we can play anywhere.”

While the Bills’ stadium has proven to be a difficult place to win, Mahomes and his teammates rose above the noise.
They found a way to win in a season where Mahomes and his receiving room weren’t necessarily on the same page.
However, with Travis Kelce putting together a vintage, two-touchdown performance, their running game performing well, and their defense getting big stops when needed, the Chiefs proved to be the better team.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season shakes out and if the Chiefs can find a way to beat the Baltimore Ravens next week.
While the Bills were favored in this matchup, they don’t present as tricky of a test as the Ravens.
If Mahomes can make his way past them, he might be on his way to a second-straight Super Bowl victory.
