Over the last decade or so, the GOAT conversation in the NBA has taken some drastic turns, with superstar forward LeBron James making a legitimate argument to be considered the greatest player of all time after winning a fourth NBA title as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although many believe the GOAT discussion should only involve two players, James and Michael Jordan, there are some that believe other players should be in the conversation.
At one point in time, superstar forward Kevin Durant looked to be well on his way to making a case to be the best player we’ve ever seen, but he didn’t have any championship rings until he joined the Golden State Warriors, who had fellow stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
As a result of his time with the Warriors, Durant won back-to-back titles and became part of one of the best teams the league has ever seen, but when it comes to the GOAT conversation, he is never brought up, and that doesn’t sit well with him via NBA Central.
“Because I went to the Warriors,” Durant said in an exclusive interview with The Republic. “Why shouldn’t I be in that? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?”

When it comes to Durant’s legacy, the consensus seems to be that he took the easy route to winning titles and, therefore, shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath with some of the best players in NBA history.
However, the same thing can be said for James, who joined two future Hall of Famers with the Miami Heat to win two titles with the team and then had things set up in his favor, coming back to the Cleveland Cavaliers and heading to Los Angeles Lakers to win two more.
