The Los Angeles Angels have lost their crown jewel this offseason.
That was two-way star Shohei Ohtani who decided to sign a 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With Ohtani leaving town, it seems like the Angels are headed for a rebuild.
But they do not want to admit that to themselves yet.
The Angels have not made many moves this offseason, but they did just sign a veteran first baseman.
According to Jon Morosi, Hunter Dozier has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Angels.

This deal does include an invite to big-league camp, meaning Dozier has a shot to make the Angels’ opening day roster.
Last season, Dozier played 29 games for the Royals and struggled during that time batting .183 with two home runs and nine RBIs.
This is far from a game-changing move for the Angels but they are hoping to try and get the best out of Dozier.
Looking at the Angels roster, it will be difficult to compete in the AL West next year.
Their roster is substantially worse than the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and Seattle Mariners.
The best course of action for LA may be to start over from scratch.
They need a total rebuild, and it would be wise for them to start that this year.
