Jerry Jones has had his fair share of controversial decisions during his time in charge of the Dallas Cowboys.
Nonetheless, of all of them, keeping Mike McCarthy could turn out to be one of them.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton said on his show that Jerry Jones had done a disservice by holding onto McCarthy.
“Jerry Jones has lost his fastball and he’s done Dallas Cowboys fans a tremendous disservice by not going after Belichick or Harbaugh. If I’m a Cowboy fan, today is a dark day,” Carton said.

The Cowboys could’ve pursued Bill Belichick, Jim Harbaugh, or even Mike Vrabel, yet they kept the same coach who has failed to lead a championship-caliber roster to the NFC Championship Game.
McCarthy’s well-documented postseason meltdowns date back to his days with the Green Bay Packers, and he and Dak Prescott were the fanbases’ biggest concerns ahead of last season.
Even if you like his coaching style and even though it’s fair to admit that his regular-season record has been pretty good, it’s hard to justify keeping him around when there are so many quality head coaches available.
Keeping him around after the way this team collapsed again is hard to justify.
