With Bill Belichick’s stint with the New England Patriots officially coming to an end on Thursday, the debate about his place on the list of greatest head coaches in NFL history has been kicked into high gear, even though he’s likely not done coaching in the league.

Belichick is the only coach in the league with six Super Bowl titles to his credit while also being the only active coach in reach of Don Shula’s record for the most wins in NFL history, which puts him in select company in the coaching ranks.

On Thursday, former NFL stars James Jones and LeSean McCoy of FOX Sports got into a heated debate over the greatest NFL head coach of all time, with Jones giving that distinction to Belichick and McCoy thinking Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs should get some recognition via Speak On FS1.

“Andy Reid can’t even sit at the table with Bill Belichick,” Jones said.

With a resume that starts with six Super Bowl titles and nine Super Bowl appearances, it’s a little difficult to put any other coach in the history of the league in the same category as Belichick, as he’s been as successful as they come.

Although Reid is, without a doubt, one of the greatest head coaches the league has ever seen, he’s still pretty far behind Belichick, who likely isn’t done adding to his legacy on the NFL level.

Only time will tell where the debate goes from here, but Reid definitely has a long way to go before he can be a legitimate candidate alongside Belichick.
