Rep. Greg Pence’s (R-IN) retirement announcement earlier today was the 16th for House Republicans this cycle, compared to the 22 House Democrats who have announced their departures.

While the number of retirements between the two parties is relatively close — and more announcements are expected in the coming weeks — the composition of the retirements is notably different.
